The Spokane Aquifer is presented first with a discussion of the history of the discovery and development of this valuable water resource. Then the geologic steps that built the Aquifer are presented to demonstrate its uniqueness with emphasis on the role of the Ice Age floods in its formation. One goal of this talk is to impart a better appreciation of this geologic heritage to encourage wise use and active protection of this community asset.
Michael Hamilton is from Indiana and has BS and MS degrees in geology from Indiana University. He is retired from a career as a geologist with U.S. Corp of Engineers, U.S. Bureau of Mines, and Washington Department of Natural Resources.
