About 14,500 years ago, roughly the same time as the Missoula Floods, the Ice-Age-sized Great Salt Lake overtopped Red Rock Pass creating a megaflood considered to be the second largest in the world. Landforms, characteristic of the scablands described by Bretz can be seen throughout southern Idaho.
Bill Burgel has earned his BS Engineering University of Michigan and MS Geology Idaho State University.
Bill recently retired from working 42 years in the railroad industry in both engineering and operations positions. He blended his knowledge of rail engineering and operations plus that of geology to deal with the continual challenges faced by operating a major railroad.
