Join Professor Scott Burns as he talks about glacial landforms, glacial periods of the past, and present glaciers in these beautiful mountains. Learn about the Swiss Pyramids, too! He will also show photos from his glacial research in Alaska.
Dr. Scott Burns is a geology professor at Portland State University. He is in his 51st year of teaching this year. His first five years of teaching were in the Swiss Alps at the American College of Switzerland from 1970-1975. He taught many classes in geology, biology and alpine ecology there. He took his student on over 40 field trips each year and during the summers was a nature guide at the Matterhorn. His three talks will summarize the main things he taught everyone about the mountain ecology of the Swiss Alps.
