Explore Washington’s rich tectonic and geologic history using a few of the 57 sites from Mountain Press Publishing book, Washington Rocks. Tectonics have controlled Washington’s landform for over the 1.45 billion years, setting the stage for the Ice Age floods. Focusing on eastern and central Washington sites from the book we will discuss general plate tectonics, current hypotheses of the geologic structures, and the features that have been preserved in the rock record of our wonderfully diverse state.
Dr. Chad Pritchard is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology at Eastern Washington University, and is co-author of “Washington Rocks”.
