Geocaching Related to the Ice Age Floods

The fast-growing activity of geocaching provides interested people with another avenue to explore Ice Age floods related features. Geocaching involves searching for geographic locations using handheld global positioning system (GPS) units. More information on geocaching can be found at http://www.geocaching.com.

Bruce Bjornstad, geologist and member of the Lake Lewis Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute, has located geocaches at prime spots in the mid-Columbia region to view a large number of features related to the Ice Age floods. This is an activity that we expect to grow, and we would like to add additional geocache sites that members set up throughout the path of the floods that have educational significance.

The map below shows the location of Ice Age floods geocaches that have already been established. The map provides hot links to the geocache descriptions of each of the locations at http://www.geocaching.com. Click on the icon associated with each geocache site to go to the description at the geocaching web site.
