Exploritas (formerly Elderhostel) is offering a multi-day field trip for adults of all ages: "The Great Ice Age Floods, Nature's Power and Beauty in Northwestern Landscapes." The tour will spend 2 nights in Spokane, 1 night in Moses Lake and 1 night in Walla Walla. It begins and ends in Spokane. Cost is $1098 per person. IAFI Annual Meeting and Field Trip, The Dalles, OR.

PRE-FIELD TRIP LECTURE AND MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Friday, 9/24, 7:00-9:00 pm, at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive, The Dalles, OR (541-296-8600). Our speaker will be Dr. Scott Burns. Please come and help elect new directors to our board.

FIELD TRIP: Saturday, 9/25. The tour will explore the unique geology in the Columbia River Gorge. We will examine remarkable features of the Ice Age Floods of 15,000 - 18,000 years ago. Field trip will start at Cousins Country Inn, 2114 W 6th St., The Dalles, OR, (541) 298-5161. Bus loading will commence at 7:30 am and trip will start at 8 am. Buses will return to same place no later than 6 pm.

Mark Buser of the Lower Columbia Floods chapter and Terry Hurd of the Columbia River Gorge Chapter are the lead organizers. Tour guides will be Richard Waitt, Scott Burns, and Jim O'Connor. Plan now to join us for this great weekend under beautiful fall weather!

Also, the semi-annual Board of Directors meeting will take place on Friday from 8 am to 5 pm at the Discovery Center.
