Join Dr. Gene Kiver as he discusses cataract retreat – an important process in the development of the bizarre landscapes in the Channeled Scablands. The deep rock-walled coulees of eastern Washington record an immense mass of water that overfilled immense canyons from Moses and Grand Coulee to the Rock Lake canyon south of Cheney. This lecture is free and open to the public.
Dr. Kiver taught Geology for over 32 years at Eastern Washington University and conducted an active research career that emphasized landforms and surface processes. He has co-authored three books including “On The Trail of the Ice Age Floods” and most recently “Washington Rocks!” Kiver spends as much time as possible following trails while photographing and exploring the geology and beauty of the natural world.
